The Little Sykes Railway operates a 12" gauge train that the kids can actually take a ride in. The Little Sykes Railway is located on Sandosky Road. The train operates from 9:00 AM till 3:00 PM with an hour off for lunch at 12:00. There is no charge to ride but donations are appreciated. All riders must be at least 3 years old and no taller than 48 inches.

Messiah Lutheran Church invites one and all to our 25th ANNUAL STRAWBERRY FESTIVAL, Saturday, May 30, 2015 from 9am and 4pm. This will be an affordable fun filled day for the entire family; to be held at the Sykesville - Freedom District Volunteer Fire Grounds, Rt. 32 and Freedom Ave., Sykesville, Md.
In addition to fresh picked strawberries and homemade strawberry shortcake we will have many games and activities for children, face painting, hay wagon rides, pony rides, and a moon bounce.
Entertainment will be provided throughout the day. Among the entertainment are Freedom Firestars Majorettes, Carroll County Dance Center, Savage Dance Company, Sykesville Tae Kwon Do Academy, Carroll Gymnastics, Stepping Stars, and Merritt Dance.
We will also have over 70 craft and flea market vendors displaying their merchandise. Wood crafts, jewelry, crystal sun catchers, paintings & tapestries, crocheted items, children’s items, dolls & doll clothing, candles, baskets, flowers, collectibles and many other crafts will be for sale. The flea market vendors will be offering a wide assortment of useful and desirable items.
A variety of foods will be available all day, starting with breakfast sandwiches at 9:00 am. Visit our baked goods booth to purchase your favorite sweet treats.
Admission is free and there is plenty of parking.
Sykesville Freedom District Fire Grounds

Space is available on May 30, 2015 for the 25th Annual Strawberry Festival to be held at Sykesville Freedom District Fire Grounds, 9 am - 4 pm. Sponsored by Messiah Lutheran Church. The JoeyDCares Rock Orchestra is hosting their annual signature concert event featuring live Rock, Pop, Motown, and Jazz music, fun audience involvement and special visual effects. Concert proceeds benefit the Carroll County Special Olympics.
JDCRO is a non-profit community group of students in 7th – 12th grade and adult volunteers who perform concerts to help raise funds and awareness for charities. Talented musicians perform as vocalists or string, brass, woodwind or rhythm section players, providing fun, family-friendly musical entertainment.

Acclaimed duo Violinist José Miguel Cueto and Pianist Nancy Roldán perform worldwide together and as soloists. Cueto is Concertmaster of Concert Artists of Baltimore Orchestra and serves on the faculty at the Peabody Institute. Roldán, retired from the Peabody faculty, is president of the American Liszt Society’s Baltimore-Washington Chapter, and is founder/director of the Liszt-Garrison Festival and International Piano Competition, celebrating its first decade at Notre Dame of Maryland University October 21-25, 2015. Dariusz Skoraczewski is Principal Cellist with the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra. He also performs internationally as a soloist and chamber musician. His diverse repertoire includes compositions from early Baroque to the present.

Masterworks Chorale of Carroll County is a non-profit, adult, volunteer chorus dedicated to providing opportunities to hear music of the highest quality as well as participate in making that music. MCCC performs a variety of masterpieces by legendary composers including Mozart, Bach, Handel, Beethoven, Brahms, Mendelssohn, Bernstein, Rutter, and others. MCCC has also premiered works by Garth Baxter, Justine Koontz, Rebecca Oswald, and Lorraine Whittlesey.
